My first month in the project was a little bit of a mess. Some days I felt useful and did something, but there were also days filled with frustration and anger. Now Lukas have joined me and I feel like the project is slowly developing into something. After all, it have only been almost two months since it started...
Last weeks we have been visiting different schools and presenting our environmental programs to the principals. My Planet My Future is the name of the program. It consists either of showing documentaries and conducting examinations about them or showing Power Point Presentations about different environmental issues. The documentaries we are offering are Home, An Inconvenient Truth and Secrets of the King Cobra. Last months I have been preparing questions about the documentaries and at the moment we are preparing the PPDs with Lukas.
We have already some dates fixed in different schools for our programs. It is always a little bit challenging to visit unknown schools, where all students are staring or laughing or pointing at you while you are looking lost when trying to find the principals office. But it is also very nice to experience how welcoming and open minded the Indians are when we tell them about our program. Sometimes we even get a cup of chai and have a nice chat with the principals or the other teachers.
Today we actually had our first real program in Rotary School here in Hunsur. It was almost a success even though nothing went as we had planned (the motto here is never expect anything). Yesterday we were stressing many hours at the internet cafe while trying to print questionnaires for the students etc. In the morning when Lukas went to work, the boss told him to go to Mysore...But finally after some confusing discussions and phone calls we went to Rotary School where we didn't show the documentary we had planned to show. But I mean, never mind, be flexible. So we watched Secrets of the King Cobra and asked some questions from my laptop. Be creative. And then we chilled out with the children and the teachers and got invited to celebrate Gandhis Birthday tomorrow.

In brief, it was a nice and successful day. And tomorrow it will get even nicer when we first have a little party for Gandhi and then in the afternoon leave for GOA! The cheapest hotel and the cheapest night buses are already booked. Looking forward to relaxing days on the Anjuna Beach!
